Basic Abdominal Wall Surgery Course EHS, 4 June 2026
On June 4th, from 9:30 to 12:30, the BAWS Course will take place!
This training is the first stage of the EHS educational pathway and is aimed at first-year residents.
Do you want to improve your basic surgical skills? Laparoscopic suturing? Or perhaps you would like to try performing a TAPP procedure for inguinal hernia repair on a realistic silicone model?

9.30 – 12.30, 4th of June
9.30 – 9.45 (15 min) : Hello and introduction.
9.45 – 10.15 (30 min) : Small-bites technique
10.15 – 10.45 (30 min) : Lap microskills training
10.45 – 11.00 (15 min) : Coffee break
11.00 – 11.45 (45 min) : Lap suturing training
11.45 – 12.30 (45 min) : TAPP on silicone model
12.30 : Thank you and goodbye
The Theoretical is provided by Alfred Surgery and to be done online.

The course is facilitated in the Manchester Surgical Skills and Simulation Centre (MSSSC).
The MSSSC is located in the centre of Manchester and is one of only a few training centres in the country to offer cadaveric dissection using fresh frozen tissue. It has been a cornerstone of multi-professional learning, facilitating regional, national and international courses since 2012.
