I have chosen abdominal wall surgery to be my favourite child because it offers an opportunity to improve patients’ quality of life but also challenges me as surgeon and researcher. The field provides extensive research opportunities, both in the treatment and prevention of hernias. Additionally, I highly appreciate the inspiring and supportive community of people who are passionate about developing this speciality.
2. What are your ambitions and goals to serve the EHS Board?
My goal is to promote equal access to high-quality, evidence based care for all hernia patients through guidelines, regardless of their place of residence. I aim to develop a user-friendly, accessible, and up-to-date guidelines to support both clinical practice and research.
3. Where do you get your motivation and inspiration in life?
I find motivation and inspiration from curiosity, achieving goals, and challenging myself.
4. What are the biggest challenges in the abdominal wall surgery right now?
The biggest challenges currently include inequality in care both nationally and internationally as well as limited resources and difficulties to achieve timely care.
5. What is your hidden talent?
I have an ability to tolerate discomfort, which often proves useful both professionally and personally.
