1. What made you choose abdominal wall surgery?

I have always liked abdominal wall surgery during my residency. Then, my interest has grown with the development of new minimally invasive hernia repair techniques and with the reseach possibilities that this field offers, as many aspects of abdominal wall surgery still remain unanswered. Abdominal wall surgery is an amazing field to do research, to train young surgeons, and the clinical part is very varied.

2. What are your ambitions and goals to serve the EHS Board?

To try improving patient care globally, surgeon education, and develop our knowledge in abdominal wall surgery.

3. Where do you get your motivation and inspiration in life?

My motivation and inspiration come from the chance that we have as abdominal wall surgeons to help patients and to give them back a good quality of life. Moreover, research passionates and motivates me-

4. What are the biggest challenges in the abdominal wall surgery right now?

With all existing techniques, being able to tailor the right operation for the right patient is crucial. Surgical education is also a tremendous challenge to improve patient outcomes. Finally, being able to summarize the immense quantity of currently existing data is a big challenge in abdominal wall surgery nowadays.
