Journal of Abdominal Wall Surgery (JAWS) achieves its first Impact Factor
The Journal of Abdominal Wall Surgery has achieved it’s first impact factor of 3.6, putting it in the 1st quartile for Surgery. This is what Editor-in-Chief, Manuel López Cano, has to say about the achievement:

I am pleased to announce that JAWS has been awarded a Journal Impact Factor of 3.6, placing our journal directly in the first quartile for Surgery. This milestone represents far more than a number. Achieving a first-ever Journal Impact Factor of 3.6 and entering directly into the first quartile of Surgery is an extraordinary accomplishment for such a young journal. It is a testament to the vision, dedication, and collective effort that have shaped JAWS since its very beginning.

On behalf of the Editorial Team, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this achievement. To the authors who placed their trust in JAWS by submitting their best work, to our reviewers whose expertise and commitment have ensured the highest scientific standards, to our Editors and Editorial Board members for their tireless efforts and to the Board of the European Hernia Society for its unwavering support and confidence in the journal—this success belongs to all of you. We also thank everyone who has contributed behind the scenes, directly or indirectly, to building the reputation of JAWS.

While we should take pride in this achievement we are equally aware that earning recognition is only the first step. The greater challenge now is to maintain—and, where possible, improve—these standards. This will require the same qualities that have brought us here: scientific excellence, integrity, humility and a shared commitment to serving our community.

Together, with the continued support of all those who contribute to JAWS, we look forward to building on this strong foundation and ensuring that our journal continues to grow as a trusted and influential voice in abdominal wall surgery.
