The European Hernia Society is committed to strengthening collaborations with our partners and especially our dedicated chapters. This new Train the Trainer course provides a unique opportunity to do so. Scheduled for 13-14 November in Geneva, the course aligns with our joint goal to train surgeons to become the best surgeons and educators, ultimately ensuring better patient outcomes within abdominal wall surgery and hernia surgery.

Train the Trainer Course
Location: Geneva, Switzerland
Dates: 13-14 November 2024
Nomination deadline: 15 August 2024 (APPLICATIONS CLOSED!)
Eligibility: Applicants must be members of EHS and the local chapter.
Nomination Process: Each EHS chapter can nominate one candidate. The candidate must submit a letter of recommendation from the local chapter, a motivational letter, and a Curriculum Vitae including contact details to cj@europeanherniasociety.eu by 15 August 2024.
Selection Process: EHS will select 6 delegates based on nominations and motivational letters. Selected chapter delegates will be contacted no later than 30 August.
Course Fee: 200 EUR + VAT (payment must be done within 2 weeks from the selection)
Covered Expenses: Travel (up to 300 EUR) and accommodation for up to 2 nights will be covered by the EHS.
This course aims to enhance teaching skills and knowledge in the field of hernia-related education. Selected candidates will have the unique opportunity to participate in both the main course and the cadaver course (Additional cadaver course fee 1000 EUR + VAT) gaining valuable insights and practical experience.

About the course
The Train the Trainer course, scheduled for November in Geneva, aims to equip trainers with tools to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. The 2-day event focuses on optimizing briefings, and debriefings, and enhancing trainers’ confidence and competence in managing trainee dynamics, interactions, and feedback. Utilizing a blend of experimentation, systematic debriefings, and simulation tools, the program promotes a deep understanding of varied scenarios and reinforces the sustainability of learned skills. The trainers, experts in Organisational and Human Factors from combat aeronautics, have tailored their methods from aviation safety protocols to ensure effectiveness. The course promises an intensive schedule covering communication skills, trainer relationships, process analysis, and practical workshops, aiming for enhanced team dynamics and problem-solving strategies.
