The European Hernia Society is a medical association uniting professionals, industry and patients interested in the repair of abdominal wall defects (called hernias) and other problems related to the abdominal wall.

Our primary aim is to improve patient care in relation to the diagnosis and treatment of abdominal wall disease. We do this by promoting education, facilitating the provision of the most uptodate evidence and information on the latest research, technologies, materials and techniques available.

Eligible to compete for the BJS prize – for best manuscript submitted to BJS/BJS Open and accepted for presentation at the Annual Congress to the value of 3500 euro for the winner and 1500 euro for the runner up. All manuscripts accepted for presentation and accepted by BJS/BJS Open for publication will have no publication charges. All other papers accepted by BJS/BJS open will have 50% reduction on APC for open access (as long as EHS member is main or corresponding author).
