Systematic Review and Guidelines for Management of Scrotal Inguinal Hernias

Introduction

These new guidelines, published in 2023, is based on a systematic review, performed on available literature concerning management aspects of scrotal hernias.

Scrotal hernias present significant challenges even to experienced surgeons because they have higher associated morbidity and mortality compared to non-complex groin hernia repairs. The recommendations were developed by the HerniaSurge group. They are primarily expert consensus-based due to the low level of scientific evidence available for analysis.
